Investigators feel as though the investigation is progressing well and at this time would encourage anyone who has any information, or may have been involved in this incident, to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-294-7922.
Please review the background information detailed below for complete suspect descriptions.

Background:

On December 7, 2008 at approximately 345 am, the Burnaby RCMP received a 911 report of a Home Invasion that has just occurred in the area of Clinton St and MacPherson Ave, in Burnaby. A number of members were immediately dispatched to the area. Once at scene and after speaking with the people in the residence it was determined that one of the females from the residence had been sexually and physically assaulted. This female was transported to a local area hospital and the residence was secured for the attendance of the Forensic Identification Section. A Police dog also attended to the scene, but was unable to locate anyone who may have fled from the residence. After speaking with the residents of the home the descriptions of the suspects are as follows:

#1) Dark skinned male, described as brown coloured skin. Believed to be in his 20's, with dark brown short hair on his head that may have been slightly curly and a goatee / moustache that were also cut short, but possibly slightly curly as well. The male had brown eyes, about 5 ft 7 inches, 160 pounds, slim build, spoke with a strange accent, and was wearing a dark coloured hoodie.

#2) White male, approximately 19-25 years old, 5 ft 11 inches, described as fit, wearing a dark blue hoodie with an unknown patch (raised) on one of the sleeves.

#3) White male, approximately 19-25 years old, 5 ft 9 inches, described as fit, dirty blond hair, big eyes that are very defined, wearing a dark coloured shirt with an unknown symbol on it.

#4) White male, approximately 28- 35 years old.
The initial investigation has determined that it is believed the suspects gained entry to the home around 3am. It is also believed that the males may have been in the general area for up to one and a half hours prior to the offence.
The residence had four people in it at the time of the Home Invasion. None of these individuals are known to Police, nor is the residence known to Police. It is believed that this was a random attack and that no one in the residence knew the suspects. Aside from the sexual assault, the home occupants were robbed of various personal belongings.
While Home Invasions themselves are not very common, it is very unusual for suspects to sexually assault a home occupant during the course of the offence. The Burnaby RCMP are actively investigating this file. As a reminder to all people, please keep your doors and windows locked, even when at home. As well, if you ever see suspicious activity please call the information in to your local Police agency.
The Burnaby RCMP are requesting anyone who may have been in the area of Clinton St and MacPherson Ave between 130am and 4 am, and saw anyone who matches the description of the males above, to call the Burnaby RCMP at 604-294-7922. Or, anyone with information may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 222-8477.

*************************

On December 9, 2008 there were two very serious collisions in Burnaby
involving pedestrian's.

The first, which occurred at approximately 730 am at Willingdon Ave and Pandora St, sent a 70 year old woman to hospital with life threatening injuries. The female was crossing Willingdon Ave. westbound at Pandora St. when she was struck by a vehicle driving southbound on Willingdon
Ave.

The second incident occurred at approximately 915 pm at Gilmore Ave and Lougheed Hwy. A 85 year old female was crossing southbound on Gilmore,
against a red light, when she was struck by a vehicle proceeding eastbound on Lougheed Hwy. This female was also transported to hospital
with life threatening injuries.

In both of these collisions there is a very similar set of circumstances. It was dark, raining and visibility was poor. Both
Pedestrians were crossing in an unmarked crosswalk, and both were observed by witnesses to have their heads down as they crossed. Both
were elderly Asian woman who were very tiny in stature which made them even more difficult to see. Both women were wearing dark clothing. In
both collisions the drivers remained at scene.

The 70 year female underwent surgery late in the day on December 9th. Her current status is stable, but still critical. Her injuries include
multiple fractures to her legs, arms, and pelvis. Most recent information is that the 85 year old female is in critical condition
suffering from head trauma and rib fractures.

The Burnaby RCMP wish to remind drivers to pay extra attention to those around them. It is darker longer and earlier, and combined with the
rain, visibility is restricted. Pedestrian’s please wear something reflective, use marked crosswalks, and be extra vigilant in ensuring
motorists have seen you prior to crossing a roadway.
